The English Chemist Joseph Priestley gave it the name rubber in 1770 when he discovered it may be used to rub out pencil marks. Its major business achievement arrived only after the vulcanization system was invented by Charles Goodyear in 1839. All-natural rubber is the only non-synthetic rubber.
